Liverpool boss Klopp gives key Alisson injury update ahead of Sheff Utd – ‘Really close’

Liverpool ace Alisson will not feature against Sheffield United but Jurgen Klopp has revealed the goalkeeper will be back in action again soon.

Alisson was injured in Liverpool’s first game of the season as they beat Norwich. Adrian has deputised in goal and helped Liverpool to a 100 per cent start to the campaign.

Many fans are eager to see Alisson back after he won the Golden Glove award in the Premier League last season.

Though the Brazilian won’t feature at Bramall Lane as Liverpool make the trip on Saturday (12.30pm).

“Ali is not in contention tomorrow,” Klopp said.

“It looks like he can train with the team from Sunday on, not 100 per cent. He is really close.

“I’m not a doctor, I take the information (on Alisson) as I get it.

“Last two weeks he has progressed really really well. They have waited long enough until he is in proper training.”

Alisson has been training in an attempt to regain fitness.

“I’m on a good way, I think we are nearly there,” he recently told Liverpool’s official website.

“I can go outside to the pitch to do some goalkeeper work and I feel very well.

“I feel confident and I think now it’s just about getting all my power, all my confidence to come back and do what I love to do.

“It’s massive because if I look back, two weeks ago I couldn’t even walk properly.

“Now I’m running, jumping on my right leg that was injured so I’m really happy for that.

“It’s great. When you are a player you want to have the contact with the ball, with the guys on the pitch, the routine of training. It’s what I love to do.”
