Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee Director in Talks for Uncharted Movie – IGN News

Bumblebee and Kubo and The Two Strings director Travis Knight is in negotiations to direct Tom Holland in the upcoming Uncharted film by Sony Pictures.As reported by Deadline, Knight, if a deal is made, would be the next director in line following the exit of 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg, who was the fifth director to leave the film adaptation of the PlayStation-exclusive Uncharted series that has sold over 41 million copies worldwide.

The film is reportedly set to begin production next year, and this news arrives the same day as the news that Sony and Disney/Marvel have reached a deal to ensure Holland and Spider-Man will be staying in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least for the near future.

The Uncharted film is being scripted by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Rafe Judkins and will follow Holland’s Nathan Drake when he was a younger man becoming the legendary treasure hunter PlayStation fans around the world know and love.

Uncharted will be the first feature production of Sony PlayStation Productions and, as of earlier this year, was set to be released in theaters on December 18, 2020.
