Gogglebox 2019 creator Tania Alexander updates fans on status of episode after injury

Gogglebox creator Tania Alexander gave viewers a glimpse at behind-the-scenes in the editing suite today as she explained how she had incurred a nasty injury. Insisting the setback hadn’t stopped her getting tonight’s Gogglebox finished in time for broadcast, she told her 10,000 Twitter followers: “Oi! Oi! Gogglers this week’s #Gogglebox almost complete. It’s a corker. And made it this week with a broken foot! Didn’t realise it was snapped at the time tho,”(sic) she added. “Found out this morning.

“Nothing gets in the way!” she said cheerfully. “See out at 9 you lovely lot. [Love] me and the Gogglegang.”(sic)

The accompanying picture showed several screens on a desk as she wrapped up editing on tonight’s instalment.

Sophie Sandiford, who appears on the Channel 4 show alongside her brother Pete, commented: “Sending healing vibes and love. Can’t wait to watch!”

“Thank you lovely,” Tania replied.

She also updated fans to say the break would take six weeks to heal, but sounded in high spirits nonetheless.

When one Twitter user shared their appreciation for Tania producing the programme in spite of her injury, she quipped: “Show comes first!”

Tania previously opened up about the success of her show, Gogglebox, telling CST Online: “The thing about Gogglebox is that yes, it’s funny, yes the cast are brilliant, all those things, but the main thing is overall its tone is incredibly warm and feel-good.

“It starts from a good place because, let’s face it, we don’t watch television with our enemies; we usually watch telly with the people we love.

“So, fundamentally you’re starting with a baseline of warmth and loveland that’s something that comes through all the time,” she continued.

Elsewhere, former Gogglebox star Steph Parker opened up about her “terrifying” health ordeal during a recent appearance on Lorraine.

The reality star said she had battled double pneumonia and a heart infection last year, saying: “It was all terrifying.

“It does give you a boot and makes you re-evaluate your life.”

The ex-Gogglebox favourite’s husband Dom, who also starred on the show, said his other half had gone “a bit doolally” after complaining of being tired.

His mother had called an ambulance, with Dom going on to tell The Mirror Steph “might have been dead” if they had waited a further 20 minutes.

“I wasn’t able to travel until the end of March and had to start back bit by bit and take it slowly,” she explained. “Making sure I could manage.”

Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
