Winter holiday deal: British Airways reveals bargain festive flight offering

British Airways has bounced back from a month of strike action with the release of their brand new flight offering. Announced this week, customers can get themselves on a cheap deal if they act quickly. The Christmas Markets sale offers a both flights and hotels at hotspots across Europe for as little as £99. However, the short city breaks are only on sale for a week, leaving customers racing to get their hands on a deal.

With journeys starting in November and running right through until the new year, routes will travel to Vienna, Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Cologne,

Gothenburg, Zagreb, Nuremberg and Budapest-all well known for their enchanting Christmas Markets.

While there are plenty of options to choose from, the best deal comes in at an incredible £99 for a trip to the Czech Republic.

A popular winter destination thanks to its abundant seasonal marketings in the city’s Old Town Square, customers can benefit from flights and two nights in a hotel as part of the package.

The British airline is also offering similar deals for just £50 more to Berlin, Krakow and Gothenburg.

Other locations included in the deal range from £169 to £239, however also offer an additional night to soak up the festivities.

The sale comes in the midst of fallout from the BA pilot strike, which is said to have cost the airline £121m according to owner IAG.

The two-day strike took place earlier this month in a dispute over pay and working conditions.

Despite pilots cancelling a second round of strike action, scheduled for 27 September, the airline’s owner expects its profit to be roughly £190m (€215m) lower than its initial forecast.

With no further talks between the British Airline Pilot’s Association and BA, any further strike action is expected to further rock the airline.

However, some profits may be saved thanks this lucrative BA sale, set to have customers racing for a deal.

Additionally, the BBC reported that IAG chief executive Willie Walsh has suggested a wider flight offering from Gatwick could be on the horizon.

The airline are reportedly looking to acquire further slots at Gatwick airport following the collapse of British travel agent Thomas Cook, which went into administration earlier this week.

According to the BBC, Walsh said: “If there’s an opportunity to acquire some slots through the administration process, we will be looking at that.

“We see Gatwick as an opportunity for us.”
