Princess Beatrice engagement ring: The adorable hidden meaning behind royal’s sparkly ring

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are all smiles in the engagement photos posted on Instagram by her sister, Princess Eugenie. But our eyes were immediately drawn to the Princess’ engagement ring – a platinum design with a large diamond. Express.co.uk spoke to a ring expert to find out the meaning behind Beatrice’s gorgeous new rock.

Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring was said to have been designed by Edoardo himself, in collaboration with Shaun Leane.

In a statement today, the newly engaged couple said: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.

“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.

“We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”

Alastair Smith, the founder of Ringspo.com, regularly profiles celebrity engagement rings.

And according to Mr Smith, Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring has a beautiful hidden meaning.

He said: “Princess Beatrice’s ring is a classic three stone ring, with a round brilliant diamond held by 6 delicate prongs and flanked by two tapered baguette diamonds.

“The centre stone appears to be around 2.5 carats, and it’s likely that the two side stones add an additional half a carat.

“Three stone rings are also known as ‘past, present and future rings’.

“While every engagement ring is imbued with its own special meaning, three stone engagement rings are an especially romantic choice – Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Princess Beatrice can reflect on the love they have shared together, the love they share now, and the unique love they will always have for each other.”

Mr Smith added: “The round brilliant diamond at the centre of the ring will deliver incredible sparkle, while baguette diamonds bring an Art Deco feel and will deliver big, bold flashes of light.

“A stunning combination which will catch eyes across any room.”

The engagement ring of Princess Beatrice sharply contrasts with that of her sister’s, Princess Eugenie.

Eugenie’s ring features a pink-toned, “lotus blossom” sapphire – thought to be one of the rarest in the world- surrounded by diamonds.
