Former Liverpool star reveals the one thing he does not like about Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott made his Liverpool debut on Wednesday but not everything about him impressed former Reds winger Harry Kewell.

Elliott, 16, joined Liverpool from Championship side Fulham during the summer transfer window.

The winger played on the right of a front three in a Carabao Cup win over MK Dons and arguably could have scored two goals.

Kewell is a fan of Elliott as a player but questioned his hairstyle after the match.

“It’s his hairstyle,” Kewell told The Debate.

“I can’t even say anything because I had the same kind of hairstyle.”

Sky Sports presenter Geoff Shreeves replied: “Come on, justify this, how could you possibly have a problem with how the young man has his haircut?”

Kewell responded: “He’s 16. He’s 16, so maybe he feels like that gives him power, like I did when I was younger.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was impressed with Elliott and the other youngsters on show at MK Dons, such as Caoimhin Kelleher and Rhian Brewster.

“Sixteen years old still and this kind of football is good, really good for us,” Klopp said.

“Brilliant boy, takes the situation really well, wants to learn.

“Tonight, he will always be a special player for moments, but his overall performance when you see him defending, when you see his movements are so smart, it’s not easy to outplay him.

“That’s really, really good and his left foot is not too bad. A bit unlucky, otherwise he would have scored. Good player.

“They are all good, we don’t have bad young players, to be honest. They are all really skilled, so that’s why it’s so important we can give them these matches.

“We will try to continue like this. We will see.

“Very good moments, couple of individual performances. [For] 75 minutes we controlled the game, so then it was really tricky.

“Kelleher, to be honest, these games are there so the boys show how good they are.”
