EastEnders spoilers: Sharon and Phil in explosive Christmas plot as Keanu affair exposed

Sharon (played by Letitia Dean) began an affair with the young man last year but called things off between them after a few months on EastEnders. But one last roll in the hay for the pair of them saw Sharon become pregnant with Keanu (Danny Walters) baby on the BBC soap.

Now, EastEnders boss Kate Oates has unveiled that she will be exposed at Christmas in the wake of Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite) learning about the real paternity of Sharon’s father.

“She does [want revenge] and because she’s very driven and bitter, Sharon needs to watch her back,” Kate told The Sun Online.

“That’s a really big drive through autumn, and then it’s going to be a massive story at Christmas.

“And what I like about it is all of the fall out, if I asked you to guess the fall out now, you wouldn’t guess what we’ve got.”

Mel is currently blackmailing Sharon, using the situation to her and best pal Lisa Fowler’s (Lucy Benjamin) advantage.

She’s convinced Sharon to get Keanu and his pregnant girlfriend and Sharon’s stepdaughter Louise (Tilly Keeper) to spend more time with them.

Of course, it will be Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) who will be hugely affected when he learns his wife has cheated on him and the baby she’s carrying isn’t his.

But the Mitchell’s and Mel aren’t the only ones to be involved in the huge festive fallout.

This evening’s episode is set to see her try and blackmail Sharon further and Lisa’s suspicions begin to be raised.

But Mel isn’t happy when it looks as though Sharon is gaining the upper hand in the situation.

Subsequently, she stoops to new lows in order to issue a threat that will shake Sharon to the core.

It appears as though the action is leading up to an exit for Mel, as earlier this year actor Tamzin revealed she would be departing the programme once again.

She said earlier this year: “When John [Yorke] asked me to return to EastEnders back in 2017, I jumped at the chance to play Mel once more but it was only supposed to be for a year.

“That year quickly passed and I agreed to stay on for another, but now the time feels right to once again pursue other challenges.

“I will of course miss so many people here at EastEnders, and I will forever have good memories of my time at the show, but I am also excited to experience new roles outside of Walford.”

EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
