Breaking Bad El Camino cinema release date: Is the new film coming out in cinemas?

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is coming to Netflix in just a few weeks. Breaking Bad fans will finally know what happened to Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) when he fled from the scene of Walt’s (Bryan Cranston) massacre. But while the film is made for Netflix, many will want to catch their favourite series on a bigger screen.

Is the new Breaking Bad film coming out in cinemas?

Despite the film being made for Netflix, it will be released for a limited time only in cinemas.

However, sadly for UK Breaking Bad fans, these screenings will take place in 68 cities across the USA, meaning those living outside of America will have to enjoy the movie on their small screen.

According to Entertainment Weekly, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie will play in a limited number of cinemas from October 11 to 13, and will be available to stream on Netflix at midnight PT on October 11, which is 8am for the UK.

The film will be screened in cinemas in cities including Chicago, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, New York City, Miami, Kansas City, New Orleans, Austin, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles.

These screenings are for a limited time only, and many screenings in New York City are already sold out due to the major demand.

At present, there has been no announcement suggesting the film will be available to see on a big screen in the UK, or any other country than the USA.

But, with demand for screenings in the USA being so high, it could be that producers decide to make the film available for cinema-goers in the UK at some point.

However, fans will be able to watch it on Netflix on October 11, and it will also be screening on US TV channel AMC at some time after October 11.

Who is in the cast of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie?

At present, very few characters have been revealed, but creator Vince Gilligan has confirmed at least 10 characters from the series will make a return.

Skinny Pete and Badger, played by Charles Baker and Matt L Jones, are the first confirmed to be in the new film.

Badger and Skinny Pete are dealers for Jesse for most of the series, though they both start attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings and start to get clean until they are tempted back with meth by Jesse.

They are also briefly seen in the finale, when Walt uses them to threaten the Schwartzes and they inadvertently tell him Jesse is alive at the compound.

A third actor has revealed his involvement in the film, Jonathan Banks, who plays Mike Ehrmantraut in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

In Breaking Bad, Mike works for drug lord Gus as well as Saul, AKA Jimmy McGill (Bob Odernkirk.)

He is a former Philadelphia police officer who does various jobs, including work as a private investigator, security, cleaner and hitman, and by the end of the series, he has joined Walt and Jesse after Gus’ death.

At the end of the series, Walt shoots Mike after grilling him for the names of his associates to whom he is sending money.

Walt follows him to the edge of a river where Mike lays down, asking Walt to leave him to die in peace.

So, it seems likely that, unless Mike lived through a horrific wound, he will be seen in flashback or one of Jesse’s memories.

Fans will likely be rooting for Saul and Walt to make a return, as series favourites, but viewers will have to wait and see.
