Jurassic World 3 cast: Will Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum reunite?

Jurassic World has seen a whole host of new characters take on the prehistoric beast. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard’s characters, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, have been the protagonists since the franchise rebooted. But with Jeff Goldblum back, will two more veterans join the cast?

Will Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum reunite in Jurassic World 3?

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World fans will be ecstatic to see the cast for the latest movie.

Of course, Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom welcomed back Jeff Goldblum as Dr Ian Malcolm, an arrogant researcher who seems to ask for trouble.

And, the new series of movies has also featured BD Wong as Dr Henry Wu, the geneticist whose brilliant mind is partly responsible for the dinosaurs coming back.

He and Dr Ian were both in Jurassic Park, and Dr. Ian returned for Jurassic Park: The Lost World.

While Dr Wu was back in the fold when the first Jurassic World took place, both were together again for Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom.

Now, director Colin Trevorrow has revealed, they will not be the only veteran dinosaur escapers to return to the island.

That’s right – Laura Dern and Sam Neill are back as Dr Alan Hunt and Dr Ellie Sattler, ready to take on the prehistoric creatures alongside Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Wearing as well as the other veterans.

Details on the plot of the film have been kept under wraps, until director Colin Trevorrow opened up at the screening of his Jurassic World short film, Battle at Big Rock.

He told Collider short film Battle at Big Rock “takes place one year after the events of Fallen Kingdom.”

He said: “It’s about a family on a camping trip to Big Rock National Park, about 20 miles from where the last film ended.

“There have been a few sightings, but this is the first major confrontation between dinosaurs and humans.”

The short film is expected to act as a precursor to the third Jurassic World film, and teases the return of Drs Sattler, Malcolm and Grant, along with Pratt and Dallas Howard’s characters.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Trevorrow said the third film “will be focused storytelling with dinosaurs all over the world.”

He said: “We really wanted this technology, this genetic power, to go open-source at the end of the film.

“What we’re suggesting is not just that these specific animals that we care about that were in captivity were freed, but also that the ability to create these animals has gone a little bit wider than our friend Dr. Wu.

“The open-sourcing of any technology, like nuclear power, that’s the scary side for me.”

Jurassic World 3 comes out in cinemas on June 11, 2021
