Sid Haig, long-time star of Rob Zombie’s films has died aged 80. The actor and musician was most famous for his film roles, namely as Captain Spaulding in The Devil’s Rejects, House Of 1000 Corpses and Rob Zombie’s other projects. The actor’s wife announced he died on Sunday, September 21. 

How did Sid Haig die? What was the cause of death?

As yet, it is unknown how Sid Haig died and a cause of death has not been confirmed.

The tragic death comes just weeks after his wife Suzie said he had been taking to intensive care following an accident, saying: “Sid has had an accident and is in the hospital in ICU. Everyone, please pray for him.”

But she went on to tell fans he “bounced back like a champ” and was “fighting like a warrior” before his death.

In a post on Instagram, Suzie confirmed his death – accompanied by a snap of her hand holding his, while he was laying in bed.

The statement from Sid Haig’s wife read: “On Saturday, September 21, 2019, my light, my heart, my true love, my King, the other half of my soul, Sidney, passed from this realm on to the next.

“He has returned to the Universe, a shining star in her heavens. He was my angel, my husband, my best friend and always will be.

“He adored his family, his friends and his fans. This came as a shock to all of us.

“We, as a family, are asking that our privacy and time to mourn be respected.”

“Sidney Eddie Mosesian. 7/14/39 – 9/21/19. Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend.

“Goodnight, my love. We will find each other again, next time. I love you.”

Rob Zombie posted a tribute to the late actor via Twitter and Instagram. 

After learning of the actor’s death, Rob Zombie said via Instagram: “Horray for Captain Spaulding.

“Gone but not forgotten.”

Sid’s final appearance is in Rob Zombie’s latest horror film ‘3 From Hell’ in which he is flanked by an all-star cast. 

Appearing alongside the actor are Danny Trejo, Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon Zombie, Richard Brake and Dee Wallace. 

Rob Zombie added Sid’s final role in the film was “brief”.

He said: “I knew it was very important to Sid that Captain Spaulding make one more round and he did.

“Sid’s time (in) the film is brief.

“He was in rough shape that day, but he gave it his all and made his scene very memorable.

“The Captain is gone … but he will never be forgotten.”
