Dianne Buswell, 30, decided to prank her social media star boyfriend Joe Sugg, 28, for a video on her YouTube channel at the weekend. Carefully planning a rather elaborate trick, the Australian dancer completely changed her look, donning a brunette wig over her trademark red locks and adding glasses. Paying close attention to detail, the Strictly Come Dancing favourite also switched up her makeup, opting for heavy brows and pale lips, finishing the ensemble with a beanie hat. Then, she headed to the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End, where Joe is currently appearing in Waitress The Musical, to pose as a fan outside the stage door at the end of the show.
Waiting among a crowd of eager fans, she filmed herself growing increasing nervous as the moment she came face-to-face with her boyfriend drew closer.
Adding captions to the video, Dianne admitted: “In the queue feeling so nervous.”
Finally, Joe emerged, along with the rest of the cast, to pose for selfies and sign autographs.
His manager, who was clearly in on the prank, shot Dianne a cheeky wink when he spotted her waiting for Joe to get to her.
“He is getting closer and I am freaking out,” she said, obviously apprehensive to find out if her beau would recognise her.
When Joe reached his girlfriend, he appeared utterly unaware of her true identity, smiling for a cosy selfie with her.
“He had no idea it was me!” Dianne captioned the hilarious moment. “Not a scooby.”
However, it wasn’t long before Joe cottoned on.
Dianne caught the instant on video as he gave her a first suspicious glance before doing a double take, exclaiming: “Oh my god!
“I looked twice!” he laughed, realising what was happening.
Both Dianne and Joe could be heard falling about laughing.
Later in the video, she captured his reaction to the prank as he announced: “You’re a tinker.”
“I still did get you because I did get a picture with you,” she said.
In the car on the way home, Joe mused: “It’s so weird, you with brown hair. It’s so bizarre. I’m not used to it.”
Elsewhere, Dianne is partnered up with BBC Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin, 34, on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
They managed to wow the judges on their first outing onto the dance floor, scoring an impressive 30 points for their Foxtrot.
The duo will step out for the second time this weekend as they continue their bid for the Glitterball trophy, with the first elimination of the series looming.
