Death in Paradise: Josephine Jobert hints at possible return – "I wish I'd been there"

Florence Cassell (played by Josephine Jobert) had become part of the furniture on Death in Paradise before leaving in series eight. Having made her debut in the season four premiere, Jobert quickly became a fan favourite but decided after four seasons to leave for “personal and professional reasons.” However, a comment on former co-star Shyko Amos’ Instagram page seems to hint there may be an ounce of regret on her behalf.

When she first left Death in Paradise, Jobert said: “I quit the show for personal and professional reasons,

“Nothing dramatic, I swear everything is fine. It’s just that I’ve been working on Death in Paradise for five years,

“It’s been an amazing experience working with brilliant actors. Working with the English, working with the French crew – I loved every minute of it!

“It’s been a tough decision but, you know, that’s life.”

In the video posted on the show’s official Twitter account at the time of her departure, she also thanked her co-stars.

She paid a special mention to Ardal O’Hanlon, Tobi Bakare and Shyko Amos saying how much she’d “miss” all of them.

It appears she wasn’t lying as a comment left on one of Amos’ snaps from filming shows just how much the actress misses life on the Death in Paradise set.

Back in June as season nine filming got into full swing in Guadeloupe, Amos posted a photo with director Paulette Randall.

The Ruby Patterson star captioned the photo: “My dream director Paulette Randall @bbcone #deathinparadise #diversity #representationmatters #blackwomendirectors #blackdirectors #blackgirlsrock #diversityandinclusion.”

Among the dozens of comments and likes on the Instagram snap was one by Jobert.

The Florence Cassell star said: “Nice!! Dear, I wish I’d been there.”

Amos liked the comment left by her former co-star.

Could the comment mean Jobert may be open to a return to Saint Marie soon?

After all, despite being shot in season eight, Florence never actually died and left the fictional island of Saint Marie of her own accord.

Should Jobert does ever return to the BBC comedy-drama, it won’t be in season nine.

Amos provided an update on the gruelling demands of filming earlier this month and revealed filming was almost up.

Jobert will have to wait for season 10 should she ever make a return to the show.

Death in Paradise season 9 premieres on BBC One in January 2020.
