Royal travel secrets revealed: Kate’s shocking seat request

The television documentary, which premiered on Friday night, disclosed that each of Kate’s dresses are often given their own individual seat on board the Royal Plane to ensure they arrive at their destination in perfect condition.

The Sun’s Royal Correspondent Emily Andrews shared the information, showing just how exclusive royal travel can be.

“Obviously when we go to the airports, especially when it’s hand luggage only, we’re trying to cram all our toiletries into that plastic bag,” she said.

Meanwhile, she says she has: “been on a plane where Kate’s dresses had their own seat to make sure they were kept flat.

“They are not going to be shoved in the hole just to be squashed by everyone else’s.”

The Duchess isn’t the only royal who takes fashion seriously when flying.

In fact, the documentary also reveals that: “Queen Elizabeth’s own skirts are weighted at the hem, so that they don’t blow up as she descends to her next important engagement.”

The documentary also revealed the exclusive service the royal family experience before they take off at their own, private terminal.

The private lounge is located behind a hidden door and allows the royals somewhere to kick back and relax before take off.

The Windsor Suite, located in Heathrow’s Terminal 5 is said to feature polished, marble flooring and a bomb-proof glass roof.

Andrews describes the terminal as “basically like a posh hotel lounge, where they just turn about 40 minutes to an hour before if that.”

She adds: “Sometimes Prince Harry in particular has literally turned up half an hour before a flight screeching into the Windsor Suite.”

The lounge doesn’t just exist for the comfort of the royals, as the documentary points out, it also accommodates their huge entourage.

According to those sources interviewed as part of the television programme, the size of the accompanying party varies from royal to royal.

The Queen is known to have travelled with up to 34 different people on particularly busy trips.

Amongst those on hand to aid the queen are often a royal artist, private secretary, and even a hair dresser.
