Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti – How Does It game in 2019 in Modern Game Titles?

In this video, we take a look at Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics card and compare it against the GeForce GTX 980 Ti and both the GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti. The 3GB memory of the GTX 780 ti is definitely one of the weak points of the cards specs, and we found that cranking the resolution started to introduce stutter in many of the titles. Gears of War 4 did fairly well up until about 1440P – though scaling past that was a problem. Other games such as the shadow of the tomb raider running on the GTX 780 Ti past 1080P wasn’t possible with decent frame rates unless quality settings were drastically lowered.

We decided to focus our testing at 1080P with the card, because realistically people who buy a GPU that’s (as of the time I am releasing the video) almost five and a half years old won’t expect games to run at 4K. I’ll also point out the CPU became a bottleneck in a few games (such as Far Cry 5) with the GTX 1080 Ti, which definitely means that it wasn’t 100 percent GPU bound.

Titles such as Resident Evil 2 and Wolfenstein 2 will definitely need the texture settings lowered a bit – because the title can become very choppy (we managed to get Wolfenstein to single digit FPS with the highest quality settings at only 1080P).
