Meghan Markle shows off her thrifty side in old blue dress she wore on last royal tour

Meghan Markle, 38, joined Prince Harry in South Africa for the first day of their royal tour. Choosing to keep her wardrobe budget down, the Duchess of Sussex rewore an item last seen when she was in Tonga. The Veronica Beard “Cary” dress cost $595 (£464) at the time, although it quicky sold out the first time Meghan wore it. The relaxed fit of the dress is perfect for warmer weather, with the large belt providing definition to the loose fabric.

Last time, Meghan matched the dress with sky blue heels, but today she kept on some black wedges she was wearing earlier in the day.

She also switched up the look by wearing her long raven locks in tumbling waves over her shoulders. Previously, she wore her hair in a slicked back ponytail.

Harry complemented his wife’s summer vibe, opting for a beige linen suit and white shirt.

Earlier today, Meghan made her first appearance in South Africa wearing a £69 black and white dress.

The Duchess opted for the summery design which had short sleeves and a slit in the skirt which showed off her leg.

She defied royal style rules by wearing a pair of black wedged heels, a style of shoes the Queen reportedly does not like.

The Duchess seemed to take style tips from Queen Letizia of Spain by wearing one of her favourite brands, Castaner.

The royal made a nod to the country she was visiting by wearing a dress made from traditional African cloth, which is £69 from Mayamiko.

The black dress had a white pattern printed across it and had short sleeves and a V-neckline, and was tied in the middle by a black and white strap pulling her in at the waist before continuing onto a floaty skirt which cut off below the knee.

Meghan styled the summery dress with a pair of black high heeled wedges, which cost £80 from Castaner.

Baby Archie, meanwhile, was spotted wearing a hat that looked to be a carbon copy of one worn by his father Prince Harry when he was a similar age.

The tot wore a blue romper suit, which he accessorised with the hat. The item is an exact match of one worn by his father back in March 1985, when Harry was just six months old.

The Duke of Sussex was also at an airport when he wore the hat, having landed at Aberdeen airport with his mum, Princess Diana.

Unlike Archie, Harry’s 80s outfit was colour co-ordinated, as he wore an entirely cream look.

However, both baby Harry and baby Archie were cradled by their beaming mothers, making for sweet comparisons between the pair.
