Jose Mourinho involved in bizarre alien chat during live TV interview at FIFA Best Awards

Jose Mourinho was involved in one of 2019’s most bizarre live TV moments at the FIFA Best Awards 2019 on Monday.

The Portuguese was in attendance at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan to see the FIFA Men’s and Women’s Player 2019 awards being presented, among other gongs on the night.

Mourinho, out of a job since being sacked by Manchester United last December, presented the award for FIFA Women’s Coach 2019, won by former USA boss Jill Ellis.

As he was walking off the stage, host Ilaria D’Amico called Mourinho over for a chat.

And no one could have imagined the route the conversation would take, as D’Amico began talking about a potential football club on another planet.

“Let’s imagine the future,” D’Amico said.

“In the very near future we have discovered life on other planets.

“Of course, before long, we will have an Inter-planetary cup, a sort of clash of worlds, a competition full of stars.

“And if it happened today, we’d be ready because tonight we have a lot of great stars, a lot of great players. Do you agree?”

Jose Mourinho replied: “Yeah, the best players.”

D’Amico then asked if Mourinho would be interested in coaching such a team.

“So, what I would like to ask you, would you imagine who could be the perfect special coach for a team like this? A special team like this,” she continued.

Mourinho seemed keen, responding: “I think FIFA doesn’t allow a coach to coach two teams at the same time, so it has to be a coach without a job.”

D’Amico said: “Ah, there seems to be something that has to do with a sort of candidation (sic), let’s say. I don’t know how to say it.”

“Coaches without a job,” Mourinho added.

“Me, Mr Fabio Capello, [Walter] Zenga and some others, but I am a candidate.”

D’Amico then thanked Mourinho before the 56-year-old walked off the stage without being prompted.

“So, thank you for your honesty, really thank you,” D’Amico finalised.
