The 100 season 7: How do Octavia and Hope Diyoza know each other?

Based on the dystopian novels by Kass Morgan, The 100 TV series has spawned a life of its own. The show has built up a strong following over the years and so its conclusion is going to be hard for fans who’ve followed it since the beginning. Season six of The CW drama set up a lot of things that will be playing out in the last series.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The 100 season 6 finale

One of the biggest moments from The 100 season six finale, The Blood of Sanctum saw an adult Hope Diyoza (played by Shelby Flannery) emerging from the Anomaly and stabbing Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos).

After stabbing Octavia, she seemed to disappear and vanished without a trace. The scene seemed to hint at the character’s death.

Shortly before Hope did the deed, she seemed to embrace Octavia and the pair seemed to greet each other like old friends.

Indeed Octavia seemed to realise the end was nigh and was ready for it as Hope approached her.

Hope also whispered something to Octavia as the two women hugged.

In an interview with Hypable, showrunner Jason Rothenberg teased the relationship between the two women and its significance going forward.

He explained: “She’s a big part of the story, that’s for sure. I think it’s clear from that one scene that she and Octavia have a connection.

“It seems that she loves this person. Hope is not like, ‘You are awful, I’m gonna kill you’ when she stabs her.

“She is heartbroken in that moment. There’s a definite affection between them.

He went on to say it would be an important plot point: “There are a lot of little hints and clues in that scene as to what that relationship is, how it is, where it’s going, what it’s been.

“I can’t talk much more about it without giving away anything, but that is what that scene was designed to do.

“Ask a lot of questions, tease a lot of things, hopefully be emotional.”

The two women seemed to be linked by the Anomaly and are most likely to have spent a lot of time together there.

As fans saw in season six, Charmaine Diyoza (Ivana Milicevic) and Octavia only seemed to enter the Anomaly for a split-second but were clearly in there for much longer than they thought.

Just how long is likely to be revealed in the final run.

Perhaps Octavia and Hope share a mother-daughter relationship that mirrors Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) and Madi’s (Lola Flannery) bond.

If Octavia and Diyoza were in the Anomaly for a while, perhaps the latter could have give birth with the former Bloodreina helping to care for the newborn.

The 100 season 7 will be premiering on The CW in 2020
