Jeremy Clarkson: ‘Monumentally stupid' Grand Tour host on Extinction Rebellion protest

Jeremy Clarkson, 59, spoke out about Extinction Rebellion climate protesters for blocking roads near the Port of Dover yesterday. The demonstrators were spotted “supergluing” themselves to the A20, causing a build up of traffic. An Extinction Rebellion spokesman said: “Extinction Rebellion appreciates the blockade will directly affect ordinary people and businesses, but we feel the action is necessary in order to call the government to action.” The Grand Tour presenter hit back at the protest in view of his 7.2 million followers and branded it “monumentally stupid”.

Fans will soon see the star in a different role as the presenter is featuring in a programme based on farming.

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host announced the news back in May, and now the car enthusiast has cleared up rumours about the name of the show.

Jeremy denied the series will be called “I bought a farm” as he spoke out on Twitter.

“Dear the newspapers,” he wrote.

“Contrary to what you think, the Amazon series I’m making is not called ‘I bought a Farm.’”

Jeremy added: “Because that makes no sense.”

Earlier this year, the TV personality revealed the show will investigate the challenges facing farmers across the UK including dwindling food supplies.

Explaining the show in more detail, he said to the Sunday Times: “This is not Kate Humble – much as I like Kate Humble – with 20 acres, bottle-feeding a lamb.

“Or a TV presenter who grows veg in his back garden. This is actual farming. Life, death and form filling.”

The host added: “We’re not making Countryfile. We’ll be showing it warts and all.

“For example, I have no view on badger culling in terms of whether it’s necessary, but if it’s happening, we will not shy away from putting it in the programme.”

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? airs tonight at 8pm on ITV.
