Dan Walker: BBC Breakfast host gives verdict on co-star Mike Bushell’s Strictly dance

Dan Walker, 42, gave his verdict on his BBC Breakfast co-star, Mike Bushell, who presents the sports news on the show, on his Strictly Come Dancing performance with Katya Jones last night.

The Football Focus host called Mike’s performance “brilliant” as he praised his colleague on Twitter.

“I’ve been out so only just seen the brilliance of Bushell,” Dan said.

“This is going to be hilarious. Well done on week 1 @mikebreakfast & @Mrs_katjones.”

Mike responded to Dan’s thoughts, thanking him for his support on Twitter.

“Thanks Big man,” he wrote.

“The hard work is done. Now time to see if we can do it with energy in the 90 seconds of bounce.”

Another one of Mike’s BBC co-stars, Steph McGovern, who is on maternity leave, sent him good luck ahead of his dance.

The pregnant presenter uploaded some throwback images of her and Mike to wish him well on his Strictly journey.

She said: “Sending loads of luck and love to our @mikebreakfast for @bbcstrictly tonight.

“He’s a man I’ve had to carry on many occasions……now it’s @Mrs_katjones turn!”

She added: “Seriously though, I have a lot of love for Bushy B, he is a total legend. COME ON SON!”

Mike responded saying he will try and use some of their moves in his next performances.

He commented: “Aw thanks so much Steph. Partner in so many adventures and I’m sure @Mrs_katjones might get some inspiration from our moves.

“Will channel my inner Mcgovern. Hope everything going well with bump of love.”

Elsewhere, Dan followed up his message with another Strictly comment, gushing over this year’s celebrities and their partners.

“Well… some real quality on week 1 of #StrictlyComeDancing,” he praised.

“The family verdict is that we’ve just seen the best opening week in #Strictly history.”

Dan also shared his thoughts on BBC colleague and former footballer, Alex Scott, who danced with professional dancer, Neil Jones.

He wrote: “Wow! @AlexScott has got some serious #Strictly game. What a start.”

BBC Breakfast airs on BBC One everyday from 6am.
