According to Billy Bob Thornton, the fact that his relationship with Angelina Jolie ended almost two decades ago has not prevented them from being civil about the situation.
He and Brad Pitt’s ex-wife have managed to remain friends throughout.
He said: “We’re good friends. We’ve been friends for years and years and years. So we keep up with each other. She’s not in town a lot, so we don’t see each other much, but we talk.”
The way he talked about their relationship made it quite clear that they have a lot of respect for each other, and they have managed to put everything from their past behind them.
Billy and Angelina do not live that close to each other, so their chances for face-to-face talks have been limited, according to him, but they still do have an occasional chat when they do meet.
He also opened up about the vials of blood the pair wore in necklace form back in 2004 on a red carpet event: “It was a crazy time. I’ve never been fond of it. We were apart a lot because she’s off making Tomb Raider and I’m making Monster’s Ball. She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razorblade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter’s baby hair in one. Same thing. From that, we were wearing quart jars of blood around our necks. And we were vampires, and we lived in a dungeon.”
And it looks like Billy has grown up a lot following their break-up, as he has recently started to admit that he was likely at fault for their separation in the first place.
It is no secret that Angelina was, and still is, very active in her philanthropy efforts, and she was a dedicated hard worker even back then, according to Billy — something which clashed with his desire to settle down and have a more relaxed lifestyle.
However, in the end, both stars seem to have gotten over their differences and have found happiness in their way.
Hopefully, their friendship does not get torn apart by any other differences in the future, but the fact that it has survived for the last two decades is a clear indication that this is not very likely at this point.

Many of Jolie and Thornton’s fans have commented on how great it was that the two were able to stay on good terms after splitting up.
