Three Mobile customers are getting this much needed upgrade for free

Three Mobile users are set to get a much-needed boost for their smartphones and it won’t cost them any extra.

The network has announced that it is investing heavily in upgrading its current 4G network which it says will deliver improvements of up to 150 per cent for customers.

4G is what most people use to access the web and check social media when away from Wi-Fi and this update is sure to be welcomed by Three customers.

The programme will run until 2023 and will be implemented in tandem with its new 5G rollout which went live in Central London in August.

These network improvements form part of the £2bn investment in Three’s infrastructure.

Speaking about the update David Dyson, chief executive officer at Three UK said: “5G is a game changer for Three’s current and future customers.

“It will bring faster speeds, a better experience and masses of capacity which will benefit our 4G customers as well.

“While we are investing heavily in 5G, 4G is still very important for our mobile and home broadband services.

“These upgrades will ensure that our data hungry customers are getting the best possible 4G experience as 5G rolls out.”

The improvements come as Three has just announced that its customers have helped it become the first UK operator to smash through the 10GB monthly data usage barrier per customer.

Data usage in July 2019 was a whopping 10.4GB per month versus the UK average of 2.9GB.

This might be partly due to Three being one of the first to offer unlimited data on its smartphone and SIM plans.

All the major player now offer unlimited data but EE, Vodafone and O2 have only announced these plans this year.

Three isn’t the only network investing in new technology with Vodafone and EE already beaming 5G to its customers.

O2 will join this 5G party next month the network confirming that its customers. will be able to access superfast speeds in the next few weeks.

5G is set to change the way we access the web with speeds of over 300Mbps available in some parts of the UK.

At that speed, you’ll be able to download a full HD movie in under three minutes.
