Scarlett Brady (played by Christie Whelan Browne) arrived in Erinsborough recently and after a chance encounter with Ned Willis (Ben Hall), she has been stirring up trouble between him and Yashvi Rebecchi (Olivia Junkeer). In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Neighbours star Ben warned fans the new arrival is responsible for “dark” scenes which are set to play out on Channel 5 in upcoming weeks.
He said: “It’s a great storyline, I think the writers have done a really good job with this one.
“It’s slow burn for Ned’s realisation, it’s very dark, [Scarlett’s] a very damaged character and she slowly works her way into Ned’s life and starts to drive him and Yashvi apart.”
Neighbours viewers have already seen Scarlett wasting no time in laying the foundations to get what she wants.
She brought up the age gap between them in a bid to drive them apart and it worked, as she caused the pair to have a huge argument.
The actor continued: “She plants seeds about her being too young, then she starts to do some crazy things to get Ned. It gets pretty crazy.”
In previous scenes Yashvi seemed to be the driving force in her and Ned’s relationship but it looks like she won’t put up much of a fight to hand on to Ned.
Neighbours star Ben was asked whether Yashvi intervenes to stop Scarlett getting close to Ned.
He revealed: “She definitely does at first, she’s jealous this beautiful woman is spending a lot of time with her boyfriend.
“But Scarlett is clever enough and Christie is such a great actress she plays it so subtly she manages to twist both at them at the same time.
“Basically puts these thoughts in their minds and sows these seeds so neither of them [fight for each other].
He continued: “Yashvi doesn’t really fight for Ned because she thinks he’s in the wrong, and Ned doesn’t fight for Yashvi because he thinks she’s in the wrong.
“She’s kind of created this perfect storm to pull them apart.”
Ned first med Scarlett earlier in the month when he bumped into her at airport lounge in her wedding dress.
The bride revealed she had been jilted at the alter and Ned comforted her while he waited for his delayed flight.
Ben explained: “He suspects he’ll never see her again and next thing she’s in Erinborough which is a bit weird but she explains it all away.
“He’s fine with it, and then slowly she manipulates situations to get as close as possible to Ned and he’s oblivious.”
