Marks & Spencer Christmas food sends Britons wild with festive Colin the Caterpillar cake

Marks & Spencer Colin the Caterpillar is a favourite across the UK.

The critter with his chocolate buttercream and covered in a milk chocolate shell has attended countless birthday celebrations.

Over seven million of the cakes have been sold, and now a Christmas Colin the Caterpillar has been unveiled in the M&S festive food selection.

The Christmas Colin is covered in candy canes, holly, presents and snowflakes, and is wearing a Santa hat – all of which are made of edible chocolate.

Twitter users have expressed their delight at Colin’s latest make over.

One simply wrote: “M&S HAVE DONE A CHRISTMAS COLIN.”

Another said: “This is the best news! (Except I am very scared of the sugar high as normal Colin makes me go a bit funny)”

“How fabulous. Why has it taken so long?” one Colin-fan wondered.

“For anyone who is sad that Summer is over, take note that @marksandspencer are here to give us something to look forward to!” another said.

It seemed Colin is converting many to Christmas cheer as one wrote: “I hate Christmas, but I want this! Festive Colin the caterpillar cake!!@marksandspencer.”

One woman couldn’t wait to serve the cake to her guests. “LOOK at the @marksandspencer Christmas food range!! I’m so bl**** exciting to be hosting our first Christmas this year. I am definitely getting festive Colin.”

In fact, it seems there is going to be quite a rush for Christmas Colin.

“Definitely doing a m&s Christmas food to order for pudding this year for this bad boy #colin #Caterpillar #Christmas #MarksAndSpencer,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another said: “Christmas Colin the Caterpillar! This is not a drill. REPEAT: THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!@marksandspencer.”

But that is not all M&S are offering for Christmas this year.

There will also be a foot-long eclair and glittery gin.
