The Modern Warfare beta returns for phase two this week, and this time it’s on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The second phase of the Call of Duty beta runs until 6pm UK time on September 23, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy the action.
If you plan to participate in the Modern Warfare beta but don’t have the best track record when it comes to Call of Duty multiplayer, then don’t fret.
YouTube sensation TommyT999 has provided Express Online with some exclusive tips for the Call of Duty Modern Warfare beta.

Map Size and Knowledge
With the new game modes come new maps of all different sizes, some of which will have never been experienced in a Call of Duty game before. There are new movement and mounting mechanics for the player. New weapons and challenges to overcome. You’ll even have the chance to master the new door mechanic, which can now be opened in a number of ways. Take the time to take a good look around each of the maps, understanding the choke point.
Understanding the Game Modes
One of the first thing you will find out when you load up the Call of Duty Modern Warfare BETA is that there are plenty of new and different game modes that you may never have seen before. With larger maps, higher player counts and elements of gameplay that can change the way you play, make sure that you approach each mode in a way that suits your playstyle and of course what the objectives in each require, whether that be in 2v2, 6v6, 10v10, 20v20 and even up to 32v32.
s, sniping lanes and of course the areas on each map that may hold a flag in domination or the larger war mode style games. Remember, if you see a quad bike there is a good chance you can use this to get yourself around the map much quicker!
Communication
If there is one thing you need to master alongside map knowledge, I would have to say it’s the communication between yourself and your teammates. Whether you’re playing in a party with friends or in an open lobby, make sure you are working together to give each other all the right callouts. You’ll need to call out where the action is taking place, enemy sightings, areas of the map to cover, which objective to work towards, etc. It does not matter which mode you’re playing, it’s the same across the board, from 2v2 Gunfight all the way up to the large-scale battles. If you get the communication and callouts right, you are on to a winner!
Weapon and Attachment Loadout Choice
If you’ve played a previous Call of Duty game, you’ll know how important your loadout is. In Modern Warfare you should take some time to master the brand-new Gunsmith mechanic. Gunsmith allows you to build and create your weapons of choice. You start by choosing a primary weapon: either an assault rifle, SMG, Shotgun, LMG, Marksman Rifle or Sniper Rifle. Each of these can have five modifications done to them: Including different barrels, stocks, magazines and more. Your secondary weapon can be either a Handgun or launcher, even the handguns can have up to five modifications added to them. In total, some weapons have up to 60 different attachment options, so make sure to find the ones that suit you.
Make sure you check out the different perks available in the Beta. To name just a few… Double time, Scavenger, Tracker, ghost and hardline are all available, so find which ones match your playstyle and add them to your loadout.
Finally, there is the choice of Lethal and Tactical equipment. Lethal offering the likes of grenades, mines and other explosives with Tactical offering stun style explosives, stims shots and a heartbeat sensor.
Killstreaks
So, you have your loadout ready to go, next up is your killstreaks. You can choose up to three killstreaks to aid you in the battlefield. Each killstreak requires a certain amount of eliminations to earn, ranging from three all the way up to 30. You can earn Personal Radars, Precision Airstrikes, Chopper Gunners and more. You just need to decide which ones you want to earn and which ones you think are achievable based on your skill level. Start low and work your way up.
Finally, you can choose a Field Upgrade to equip. These range from Munitions Box to Trophy Systems. Each offering either you or your team a cheeky little upgrade that could make a big difference in the heat of battle.
Night Vision
Certain Maps will be available to play in night mode. Maps will be so dark you have to use the Night Vision Goggles (NVG’s) and IR lasers to navigate through them. These two pieces of equipment will be a key focus in this mode and you’ll need to know how to use them effectively. If you aim down your weapon’s sight your laser will equip & turn on, visible to you and your enemies. If you move without aiming down your sights your laser will not be shown. So while playing in the dark these can work as both an advantage or disadvantage when it comes to engagements on these maps. Oh, one final tip.. keep your eyes out for muzzle flashes and most importantly light switches, as these could also play a big part in your tactics for victory at night.
