Hulkenberg, who currently drives for Renault, has insisted that Mick Schumacher will eventually make the transition to Formula One and follow in his father’s footsteps. Mick currently drives in Formula 2 with Prema Theodore Racing but will progress to the top echelon as entry to Formula One in the next two years according to Hulkenberg.
Moreover, such has been his recent performance that principal of Scuderia Ferrari has insisted that Schumacher’s path is already predetermined.
Binotto said a few days ago: “There will be the moment when he is ready for Formula One.”
Adding that he was “sure” that the Schumacher would make the step up, Hulkenberg told German news channel, n-tv, that he will likely progress in the next two years.
The Renault man also added that he had “developed well” recently but also that he will always be compared to his legendary father.
He added: “Of course you have to see the conditions under which he grows up, the expectations are extremely high, that’s not an easy situation.”
Moreover, Mick himself has also admitted that his ultimate goal is to make the step up to emulate his father.
Following his first win in Budapest, Mick said: “I will do my best to learn as much as possible so that I am ready when the time comes, and so I feel comfortable in whatever team.”
Although Hulkenberg did praise the 20-year-old he also warned that it is now much easier to progress as a young driver due to the development in the cars themselves.

Hubert had tried to avoid another driver before his own car collided with barrier and span back onto the crash.
The driver of the car that collided with Hubert, Juan Manuel Correa suffered fractures to both his legs and a minor spinal injury.
He had surgery following the accident and was then transferred to intensive care and was put in an induced coma.
According to a doctor, Correa’s injuries were still “an important concern”.
Moreover, the doctor revealed that will undergo surgery once his lungs are strong enough.
He did undergo a four-hour operation in Liege but on his arrival in London he was diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome
Giuliano Alesi had also been involved in the crash but was unharmed.
Hubert had been racing in his first season for British-owned Arden.
Following his passing, a minute’s silence was held as drivers from both F2 and Formula One honoured his memory.
As a result of Hubert’s passing, the F2 race was cancelled in Belgium.
