Dan Walker: BBC Breakfast host in stunning golf victory with three surprising teammates

The presenter is an avid sports fan and often is seen playing a round or two of golf. He also loves sharing updates of his life with his loyal army of followers. On Wednesday, the host helped a team of four celebrities win this year’s BMW PGA pro-am tournament.

But the guests who helped his team claim the win contained some shock faces.

Among those were a One Direction superstar, a former Olympic gold medalist and a professional golfer.

Dan tweeted: “Amazing day at the BMW PGA pro-am at Wentworth.

“Course is in incredible condition for the tournament and somehow… WE WON!

“The crowds were MASSIVE!

“@TyrrellHatton was brilliant and @NiallOfficial, chip-in Queen @SamanthaQuek & I threw in enough birdies to bring it home.”

The win comes after Dan revealed he met a 90s icon in a “fan boy” moment at the pre-tournament event on Saturday night.

The event was held at Wentworth and was raising money for charity.

But while at the after show, which saw the likes of Sir Rod Stewart entertain guests, Dan revealed a moment that capped his night.

He wrote on Twitter: “At Wentworth raising money for The Prostate Project and the Royal Surrey County Hospital Charity alongside the European Tour Foundation.

“Sir Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones are all performing on the weekend before the BMW PGA but more importantly Chesney Hawkes is in the building.

“#FanBoy”

Chesney rose to prominence in 1991 with his smash hit ‘The One and Only’.

Although he was unable to follow this up with another major hit, Chesney enjoys cult status among fans.

His chart-topping hit made number one in the UK, where it stayed for five weeks.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
