Alex Scott: ‘I give up!’ Strictly Come Dancing star tells Neil Jones during major fail

Alex Scott, 34, and Neil Jones, 37, will be performing the Quickstep on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday, their first live dance together.

The pair have both been sharing videos of how rehearsals have been going this week, and there’s been an ongoing theme.

Alex uploaded a video of herself failing to say the word, Chassé, which is a dance step.

The star said she “gives up” during their break from dancing.

At the beginning of the video, Neil urged the former Arsenal footballer: “Try and say it.”

“Sashay,” Alex repeatedly answered, but was met with laughter from Neil as he corrected her.

After numerous failed attempts, Neil said to his celebrity partner: “At least you can dance it.”

Following another incorrect attempt, Alex got off her seat and shouted: “I give up!”

Alex tweeted the video: “I give up…

“I can’t say it, so I’m just going to learn how to dance it instead and keep calling it beans on toast @Mr_NJones @bbcstrictly.”

Even fellow celebrity dancer, Michelle Visage, 50, tried to teach Alex how to say the phrase.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race star uploaded a video of her repeating the word to Alex, but she still couldn’t say it correctly.

Alex spoke about being paired up with the star this week and told Radio Times: “I’m Neil’s first celebrity partner, so I don’t want to let him down.

“I’m making sure I’m doing everything right for him.”

The former footballer admitted she “can’t believe” she’s on the show and added: “Everyone’s seen me in football kit playing for Arsenal and England, but Strictly is the ultimate glamour.”

While Neil admitted he was “surprised” to have been picked to partner up with Alex.

He spilled: “It was a pleasant surprise to be partnered with Alex! I’ve 100 per cent lucked out with her.”

All of this year’s celebrities and their partners will be performing for the first time as pairs in Saturday’s live show.

Fortunately for them, no one will be voted off and will sail through to week two.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One Saturday at 7pm.
