OnePlus 7T unmasked: Fans get the full picture ahead of OnePlus launch

If you’d like the design of the OnePlus 7T to be a surprise, don’t read on any further.

OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau has revealed the upgraded handset from every angle in a new post on the forums – weeks before the next-generation handset launches worldwide.

Lau, who also serves as OnePlus CEO, said the company had decided to share the official image to stop any leaks in their tracks. That makes a certain amount of sense, as there had already been a number of high-profile leaks that revealed the presence of the triple-camera set-up on the more affordable OnePlus 7T, not only on the pricier OnePlus 7 Pro which was the only model with the improved camera last time around.

But while it has successfully cauterised any more leaks, it does take away some of the surprises from the upcoming launch.

As with previous OnePlus launches, the Shenzhen-based company is asking fans to cough-up for tickets to attend the keynote presentation in London next month. Tickets typically cost £30, although OnePlus has slashed the price to £16 for a limited time.

During previous launch events, OnePlus has offered fans the chance to play with the new handset and leave with a bag filled with OnePlus-branded goodies that equal at least the same value as the ticket itself.

As well as revealing the triple-camera on the back of the OnePlus 7T, the forum post by Pete Lau also gives us our first look at the shiny new blue colour option.

According to the OnePlus CEO, this is a “smooth matte surface with a brilliant metallic radiance”, although we’ll reserve judgement until we’ve had a chance to take a look at it ourselves.

Unfortunately, the OnePlus forum post stops short of actually showing off the front of the OnePlus 7T, so we’re not sure exactly what kind of display to expect from the new phone.

The OnePlus 7 had the same teardrop notch seen on the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, while the costlier OnePlus 7 Pro rehoused its selfie camera in a pop-up module at the top of the handset to make the screen truly edge-to-edge.

Whether the OnePlus 7T will keep the smaller notch, or will move to the pop-up camera remains to be seen. Presumably, Lau won’t share any more details ahead of the London event next month, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on the forums to make sure the front of the phone isn’t revealed earlier than expected.

The confirmation from Pete Lau comes a few hours after a leak from renown tipster Ishan Agarwal purportedly revealed the details of the three cameras coming to the back of the OnePlus 7T.

According to a tweet from the leakster, the OnePlus 7T will have a 16MP 17mm Ultra-Wide angle camera with a 117° field of vision, coupled with a 48MP Wide Angle lens and a 12MP 51mm Telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. That’s in addition to the speedier new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset that’s tipped to be inside the handset and the high refresh rate 90Hz display.

Express.co.uk will have all the news around the OnePlus 7T series when its announced next month.
