Drag Race UK: Michelle Visage hints at shock elimination and previews new series

BBC Three will release the first episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK on October 3, with the 10 British queen facing judges RuPaul and Michelle Visage for the first time. Visage, who is also appearing on Strictly Come Dancing this autumn, spoke to Express.co.uk about the new series and revealed some cryptic hints about what is going to happen in the show. These include a possible shock elimination, plus how Ru dealt with British references she did not understand.

What will happen on Drag Race UK?

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Michelle Visage said: “You’re really going to freak out. It’s a great group of girls to kick it off with.

“There’s so many laughs there’s so much heart, there’s so much talent that you’re going to be proud to be a Brit when the show comes out.”

However, the former girl band member also hinted Ru would be making some decisions that might see popular queens go home.

She said: “Ru picks everybody, right? He handpicks every contestant that’s on the show.

“And it goes challenge by challenge. So if there’s an incredibly talented kid, and they just got a horrible challenge for them, it’s because of the challenge not because of their talent.

“So they’re all stars and they’re all going to be superstars walking around the streets of the UK.

“I cannot wait, it makes me so happy for them.”

When asked if she understood all the references the British queens threw at her, the former Celebrity Big Brother contestants said: “Growing up I didn’t have the TV that you guys have over here.

“So all the references I haven’t had a chance to catch up on would stump me – I don’t know everything about Corrie, I don’t know everything about EastEnders because I don’t watch them regularly.

“So for me, there could be stuff like that, but not on Drag Race.

“It’s been a pretty straightforward lot and I got every reference there was thrown out.”

However, Ru may have had more trouble understanding British references.

Luckily, he had known Anglophile Visage on hand to help him.

She said: “I think Ru got most of them, and if he didn’t he would look at me and I would explain it in two seconds.”

She joked: “I love being his guide here in the UK!”
