Rod Stewart cancer: Singer with The Faces after ‘incredible night’ amid shock health news

Penny Lancaster, 48, took to social media today to post a picture from her “incredible night”.

The wife of Sir Rod Stewart, 74, attended a charity event to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer following her husband’s recent battle with the condition.

This morning the Loose Women star spoke about the event, telling her 85,500 Instagram followers: “An incredible night with The Faces and friends raising important funds and awareness for prostate cancer of which 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime.”

She went on to urge men to get tested for the UK’s most common cancer in men, continuing: “So get tested guys to help beat it @theprostateproject.”

In the black and white picture Penny posted online, Rod is reunited with his Faces bandmates Ronnie Wood, 72, and Kenney Jones, 71.

The trio, who toured Britain, Europe and America together in the early 1970s, posed for the snap with their final studio album Ooh La La.

The former Faces musicians look dapper in smart suits, with Rod opting for a white shirt and suit jacket for the occasion.

At the weekend, the legendary singer told reporters he had been given the all-clear following his own prostate cancer diagnosis two years ago.

At Saturday’s fundraising event Rod said: “Two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.”

He went on to add: “No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests.”
