Pixel 4 may not be the only smartphone coming from Google next month

Pixel 4 was first revealed by Google back in June with the company confirming the device’s name in a surprise post on Twitter which also included a picture revealing its rear panel.

Pixel 4 was exhibited with a new, square, rear camera system which appears to house at least two sensors – the device has been tipped to tote a primary and telephoto lens.

Soon after, Google declared the Pixel 4 would come with advanced facial recognition technologies which will be embedded in its top bezel – suggesting this could act as the primary way of unlocking the display.

We now know that the Pixel 4 will be unveiled on October 15 and could come in two models: the standard Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL.

However, it seems these may not be the only new handsets coming from the vendor.

9to5Google recently trawled through an early version of the Google Camera app it claimed was from a pre-release Pixel 4 – the outlet found codenames for what could be three new Android handsets.

Dubbed “Coral”, “Flame” and “Needlefish”, the first two have been tipped to be alias’ for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL respectively.

However, it is currently unclear what the codename “Needlefish” is for.

The outlet speculated Google could be planning to unveil a budget model of the Pixel 4 alongside the high-end devices.

Earlier his year the American tech giant released the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL – both were positioned as cheaper alternatives to the regular Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

It is possible the discovered codename is for a new device that could be called the Pixel 4a.

However, it is worth noting 9to5Google also speculated the codeword might be for a number of other products such as a long-rumoured Pixel Watch, a new Pixel tablet or even a device that has since been scrapped entirely.

The publication also said it is possible the codename stands for none of the above.

While it is unclear if Google is planning to reveal a Pixel 4a device – details about the firm’s premium Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 seem to be more clear by the day.

Most recently, the Pixel 4 has been plagued by a raft of leaks that appear to have outed its design in full and most notable new features.

Two YouTube channels by the name of Rabbit TV and AnhEm TV recently posted videos showing Google’s newest flagship in its entirety.

In fact, the former displayed the device in three colours: black, white and a new orange tone.

As was already confirmed by Google, the device was shown with a square camera system on its rear.

On its front, the Pixel 4 was exhibited with a screen surrounded by relatively small borders bar at its top where a noticeable bezel could be seen.

Most notably, AnhEm TV showed off a new feature on the device called “Smooth Display” that was said to dynamically adjust its refresh rate from 60Hz to 90Hz.

This suggests that, just like the OnePlus 7 Pro, the Pixel 4 will be able to offer Android fans a smoother navigation experience.

Rabbit TV’s video not only showed off the design of the new Android device, but the channel also posted claimed camera samples from it, too.

The Pixel 4 was shown to best the Pixel 3 where zooming and low-light performance was concerned.

Express.co.uk will bring you all the news live from the October 15 event where Google will presumably unveil the Pixel 4 in full.
