David Harper, an expert on Antiques Road Trip, explained he was all set to speak to Debbie McGee live on her BBC Radio Berkshire show but missed it due to being up on scaffolding.

The antiques star said he apologised to the former Strictly Come Dancing finalist for the mistake, but has yet to hear back.

Speaking with Express.co.uk, David spilled: “I contacted Debbie, we were due to do an interview on BBC Radio Berkshire, it was all arranged.

“But, I was up on the scaffolding, I had my phone next to me and I had two calls from the producer, they said I missed it!”

David said he asked Debbie if he could arrange another interview on her radio station.

He continued: “I tweeted Debbie, profusely apologising, saying ‘please forgive me can we do another interview?’

“I never heard from her.”

“Hope she had forgiven me,” David added.

David, 52, has been on Antiques Road Trip since it first began on the BBC back in 2012.

The star, who will be sharing more stories during his theatre tour, Unexpected Tales Tour, has been involved in plenty of drama on the show.

David explained when he was filming with one celebrity during an episode, the famous person almost got them both arrested.

Speaking about special guests on the show, he divulged: “I met one very famous celebrity who almost got me arrested.”

Spilling all on the memorable tale, he explained: “We were filming and he had just been awarded rear of the year, which if you know who this character is, this got him very excited.”

Not divulging anymore details about the mysterious person in question, David continued: “So he couldn’t stop talking about it and then he started showing his rear.

“Luckily he kept his underpants on which were very skimpy and a bit shocking!”

David went on: “He was showing his rear so much, things developed and we almost got arrested!

“The police got involved, public complaints were involved and indecent exposure was involved.”

David said everything was sorted out in the end and admitted he “doesn’t mind” when things go badly wrong, as he added: “I just make a mental note and think that will be a good story.”

The star will be sharing more hilarious stories from his time on Antiques Road Show and Bargain Hunt on his theatre tour, Unexpected Tales.

Revealing some details about his nationwide shows, he said: “It will include stories from behind the camera and stories I shouldn’t be telling anyone! So I hope non-one from the BBC is there!”
