Thor: Love and Thunder: Chris Hemsworth role EXPOSED in Taika Waititi bombshell

Thor: Love and Thunder has been confirmed to still feature Chris Hemsworth as the lead role of the God of Thunder in the brand new film from Marvel Cinematic Universe’s phase four. The film’s director Taika Waititi came out and clarified the situation to fans recently. Following the grand reveal at Comic Con that Jane Foster star Natalie Portman, from the first two Thor films, would be becoming a female Thor, there has been much speculation over exactly how much Chris would be in the movie. It turns out, it’s actually Natalie who will be in the supporting role seat.

The Jojo Rabbit actor was asked whether the movie’s hero or heroine was Thor or Jane, and he was surprised by the confusion.

“It’s Chris,” Taika told MTV News at Toronto International Film Festival.

“It’s a Thor film,” he continued. “He is Thor, it’s a Thor film.

The New Zealand actor went on to assure 38-year-old Black Swan star Natalie is simply a supporting actor.

“She’s in it,” he added bluntly.

Natalie will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Mighty Thor.

The character features in an existing comic book storyline where Thor loses his impressive powers and strength.

As a consequence, Jane manages to wield her ex-lover’s magical hammer Mjolnir.

While it may be a disappointment for some fans to learn the Thor franchise is remaining tightly male-led, the director also recently revealed Natalie is much more than just a female version of Chris’ superhero.

“[She’s] a Thor,” Taika said earlier this year.

“There’s still the other Thor, the original Thor.

“She’s not called Female Thor. In the comics, she’s called the Mighty Thor.

“I couldn’t be more happy and excited by how it’s panning out,” the director added.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released November 2021.

The film forms part of Marvel’s Phase 4 plan for the franchise.
