James Bond: New poll sees overwhelming support for 007 to REMAIN male after Daniel Craig

The poll had nine options, with eight being some of the bookies’ favourites including Emily Blunt and No Time To Die’s Lashana Lynch, who is expected to be the new 007 agent in the latest Bond movie.

However, the final option was, “James Bond should only be played by a man”.

And at the time of writing, this has overwhelming won the poll with 85%.

In second place was the most popular female Bond choice in Charlize Theron on 5%.

The star recently played an MI6 agent in Atomic Blonde, while Blunt came second on 4%.

Lashana Lynch, who stars in No Time To Die, came fourth with just 2% of the vote.

This is surprising considering she has the best chances of the lot of them as her character Nomi is expected to take up the 007 mantle in No Time To Die.

When Craig backed a female Bond back in April at the start of filming his fifth outing, he said: “I think that everybody should be considered.

“Also for women and for African-Americans, there should be great parts anyway, across the board.”

At the time, Craig was slammed by Piers Morgan for the comment, which the Good Morning Britain host has done again following the actor’s latest comments.

The journalist tweeted over the weekend: “Vote for sanity. #KeepBondAMan.”

Meanwhile, Morgan has also responded to former Bond Pierce Brosnan, who also backs a female 007 taking over after Craig’s in No Time To Die.

He tweeted: “Oh FFS… no. Or I will demand the next Wonder Woman is a man.”

Brosnan made his views known at the Deauville Film Festival, where he was collecting a career honour.

He said: “Yes! I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there.I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting.”

No Time To Die will be released in UK cinemas on April 3, 2020.
