iOS 13 release – Why some Apple iPhone fans are set for a major disappointment

There’s a huge week ahead for iPhone fans with Apple releasing its big iOS 13 upgrade.

The blockbuster update will become available on Thursday, September 19 with the US firm expected to push this download out to users at around 6pm BST.

Once installed, iPhone fans will get access to plenty of new goodies including Dark Mode, improved photos app and a new typing experience via QuickPaths.

This new feature brings easy one-hand typing to the iOS keyboard by continuously swiping through the letters of a word.

Everything should be a little faster once this update is installed with Apple boasting that apps will load at a more rapid rate and its Face Unlock security should be even more seamless.

“iOS 13 brings new capabilities to the apps you use every day, with rich updates to Photos and Maps, and privacy-protecting features like Sign In with Apple, all while delivering faster performance,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering.

“We’re excited for customers to experience what’s coming to iPhone this fall and can’t wait for them to see how great everything looks in Dark Mode.”

So that’s the good news for iPhone users but not everyone will be so pleased when Apple finally releases iOS 13.

It was confirmed earlier this year that some popular models of the iPhone won’t be compatible with this upgrade.

In fact, anyone owning an iPhone 6 or older will need to upgrade to a newer model if they want to take advantage of this update.

Here’s a full list of iPhones that will be able to download and use iOS 13.

iPhone 11 • iPhone 11 Pro • iPhone 11 Pro Max • iPhone XS • iPhone XS Max • iPhone XR • iPhone X • iPhone 8 • iPhone 8 Plus • iPhone 7 • iPhone 7 Plus • iPhone 6S • iPhone 6S Plus • iPhone SE • iPod Touch (seventh generation).

The iOS 13 release will arrive just one day before Apple releases its new iPhone 11 devices.

These smartphones were announced a major launch event in Cupertino last week and include an improved camera experience and much faster A13 Bionic processor.

There’s three models to choose from including an iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

“iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are the most powerful and advanced smartphones we have ever made. They are packed with sophisticated technology that pros can count on to get their work done, and for anyone who wants the very best device made, even if they are not a pro,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

“iPhone 11 Pro has the first triple-camera system in iPhone and is far and away the best camera we’ve ever made, it provides our customers with great range of creative control and advanced photo and video editing features in iOS 13. The Super Retina XDR is the brightest and most advanced display in iPhone and the A13 Bionic chip sets a new bar for smartphone performance and power efficiency.”
