EastEnders spoilers: Walford rocked by double death as harrowing plot concludes in tragedy

EastEnders resident Chantelle Atkins (played by Jessica Plummer) was left shaken up once more during last night’s episode as her abusive husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) made her the target of his anger.

Those watching the harrowing attack have speculated the outcome of this storyline and predicted a shocking double death.

It comes after a scene where Gray had prepared a romantic dinner for the two of them as his way of apologising for punching Chantelle in the stomach earlier in the week.

It was also an opportunity for them to spend some alone time, but Gray’s surprise was delayed when Chantelle arrived home later than expected.

She had been participating in the final stage of the hairdressing competition, but forfeited her place due to the constant harassment she was receiving from Gray.

The businessman had been sending Chantelle several text messages asking her how long she would be until she was finished and coming home.

Unable to handle his aggression, Chantelle left the competition, but returned home only to be thrown to the floor and attacked.

“Im really sorry the competition went on longer than expected. It looks amazing. Smells good,” Chantelle explained.

After receiving stony silence from Gray, she changed the subject: “I’m going to go check on the kids.“

“They’re at your mums,” Gray growled and his wife replied nervously: “Looks like it’s just you and me then.”

Viewers saw Gray then demand: “Where, were you?” And Chantelle tried to remain calm: “You know where I was Gray, I was at the community centre. The competition. Don’t be mad, we can still have a nice evening. Shall we eat?”

“It’s ruined,” Gray dismissed and at that moment, Chantelle knew she needed to get out of the house.

Making an excuse to go to her mum’s, she turned on her heel to leave but Gray was right behind her and in a split second he grabbed her and shoved her to the ground.

“You see what you’ve done? I go out of my way to make things nice for you, to show you how much I love you,” Gray manipulated.

“But what do you do? You throw it all back in my face.  You make me do this! You make me!”

Grabbing her by the face, Chantelle was forced to tell Gray about the pregnancy as a way of protecting herself from being beaten further.

“I’m pregnant! I’m pregnant!” She shouted and Gray took to his hands off her. “I’m pregnant.”

After taking a minute or two to digest the information, Gray’s mood flipped and sheer delight spread across his face.

“This is exactly what we needed,” he exclaimed. “You know that right? Thank you.”

Taking to Twitter to discuss the outcome, fans think Gray is going to kill Chantelle and the unborn baby.

One said: “I’m calling it now, Chantelle is gonna end up dead at the hands of Gray @bbceastenders So sad but so powerful.”

“Chantelle needs to leave the sadistic Gray or he will end up killing her,” another chimed.

Someone else suggested: “I think Chantelle is going to get rid of the baby, Gray will find out, lost it and kill her in a fit of rage #EastEnders.”

EastEnders returns Monday at 8pm on BBC One.
