Aljaz Skorjanec: 'I know I shouldn't care' Star reveals unhappiness at Strictly decision

In a clip from Strictly: The Professionals – set to air tonight – Aljaz Skorjanec relived a difficult moment from behind the scenes while sat alongside co-star Kevin Clifton. The Strictly Come Dancing 2019 pro was reminded of a performance he did last year, which saw the BBC studio transformed into Hogwarts, the school from the Harry Potter novels. Each professional was given a uniform which dictated which house from the best-selling books they were from, between Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Slytherin. However, much to his dismay, the 29-year-old husband of Janette Manrara found himself in the former.

“I love Harry Potter – I’m a massive fan,” Kevin, 36, stated, as he and Aljaz discussed the performance.

“So am I…” his companion replied, before changing his mind. “So was I, actually. I was a fan of Harry Potter.”

Bursting into laughter, the British pro and boyfriend of Stacey Dooley stated: “Because we all got divided into houses.”

Aljaz went on: “And you were all celebrating! Kevin – Gryffindor,” to which he quipped: “Obviously.”

He went on: “And I love Harry Potter, I love the houses and everything about it. And they go, ‘Aljaz’ and that’s my moment, when I find out.”

A throwback clip of him in a Hufflepuff uniform was then shown as Neil Jones giggled: “He was Hufflepuff… he still goes on about it today.”

Mimicking his distraught reaction, Kevin reiterated: “Why am I Hufflepuff?” as Johannes Radebe said: “Aljaz was not happy”

Kevin shared the video on Twitter and Instagram, captioning it: “One of the funniest moments of @bbcstrictly was @aljazskorjanec being annoyed about being a Hufflepuff.”

Aljaz then replied on the micro-blogging site: “I know I shouldn’t care but I am still not over it… hehe.”

Each of the Hogwarts houses from Harry Potter – written by J K Rowling – come with personality traits, with Hufflepuff representing patience, hard work and loyalty.

Harry Potter himself was in Gryffindor – brave and courageous – while Slytherins are ambitious with a cunning spirit and Ravenclaw values intelligence and creativity.

Strictly Come Dancing’s pros wowed with their themed routine, which opened the 2018 Movie Week special.

Aljaz was partnered with BBC newsreader Kate Silverton for the season, which saw them eliminated eighth.

This year he is dancing with Viscountess Emma Weymouth while his spouse Janette is with Paralympian Will Bayley.

They have all been keeping fans updated on their progress on social media, with Janette Manrara apologising to “bleeding” Will Bayley in a shock clip.

Strictly: The Professionals airs tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
