Chris Evans in Brexit remark about leaving BBC Radio 2 ‘At least we got a deal’

The presenter had a longstanding association with the BBC before announcing he would leave the broadcaster last year. He has since gone on to achieve huge success with Virgin, while his former slot on BBC radio has fallen. But Chris likened his exit to that of Brexit as he discussed the move with co-host Rachel Horne.

Rachel was celebrating her anniversary of working with Chris and bought in a selection of treats for her colleagues.

And Chris said: “Rachel has bought in brownies because it’s her one year birthday.

“She joined us a week after we announced we would be leaving Radio 2.

“She’d already signed the contract but instead she came with us.

“She voted leave, we voted leave and we did leave.

“We said we were going to leave and we did leave with a deal.”

Chris had previously revealed to listeners his weight loss technique.

He explained: “I do this 12 hour fast, which I have never talked about on the radio.

“But I don’t eat for 12 hours a day as it improves everything. 16 hours is even better, but 12 hours is easy especially if you do a breakfast show.

“If you get up at silly o’clock, not eating for a 12 hour period is very easy. It is about now 7:40am I could have it now.”

Chris will run in the Amsterdam Marathon for Dementia Revolution.

He said: “One and a half million people are affected by dementia in one way or another.

“This is for Dame Barbara Windsor and Scott [her husband].

“It is for Dementia Revolution, that is that is why we are going there, that is why we are running.”

Chris is a former Top Gear host who was also a breakfast radio host for the BBC.

Chris Evans Virgin Radio Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6.30am.
