PS4 system update 7.00 beta 5.00 out now: File size and PlayStation patch notes

PS4 system update 7.00 beta 5.00 is available to download right now for those that signed up to the PlayStation software test.

The latest PS4 system update 7.00 beta download weighs in at 469.7MB, according to a post by PSU.

The latest beta download comes ahead of the full PS4 system update 7.00 release date in two weeks time.

The headline features of the beta for the PS4 system update is HDR calibration and the ability to host parties of 16 people.

The former will come in especially handy for those with 4K TVs who are looking to tinker with the HDR setting to make visuals brighter.

Tweaking the HDR settings will not only help with seeing visuals in games more clearly but will also impact services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

The next big PlayStation software update will also let PS4 users install system updates without having to restart their consoles.

The latest PS4 download comes as PlayStation 4 fans have been teased that September is set to be a very big month for them.

Later this month Sony will be holding a special event dedicated to The Last of Part 2.

The last time fans got a glimpse of Last of Us 2 was back during E3 2018 when a jaw-dropping gameplay trailer was showcased.

The upcoming Last of Us 2 event is taking place on September 24 when a ‘media event’ is being held.

The news was revealed by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley who tweeted a picture of the invite alongside: “And…here….we…..go! See you later this month @Naughty_Dog @Neil_Druckmann”.

It’s not clear whether what is showcased at the Last of Us 2 event will be streamed for those who aren’t attending.

But either way fans are expecting more gameplay to be showcased and for the Last of Us 2 release date to be revealed.

PS4 fans have also been teased that this Last of Us 2 conference won’t be the only big event that Sony are holding in September.

Replying to news about this Last of Us 2 media event on ResetEra, gaming industry analyst ZhugeEX posted: “This isn’t the only Sony event that week”.

It remains to be seen what this event could be – could it be another dedicated event showcasing other PS4 games?

Or could it be a new State of Play broadcast where Sony will reveal to the public what the media learnt at the Last of Us 2 event?

Either way, it looks like September is turning out to be a very big and exciting month for PS4 fans.
