Melania Trump: Major error Republican National Convention made about First Lady revealed

The profile claimed Melania has a degree in design and architecture, when really she dropped out of university before obtaining the degree. Melania, who comes from Slovenia, decided to quit studying and pursue modelling full-time in the 1990s. She dropped out and moved to Italy, and then to the US in 1996.

However, the RNC programme from 2016 read: “After obtaining a degree in design and architecture at university in Slovenia, Melania was jetting between photo shoots in Paris and Milan, finally settling in New York in 1996.”

Melania has been modelling since she was five years old, and started doing commercial work at 16, when she posed for Slovenian fashion photographer, Stane Jerko.

At 18, she signed with a modelling agency in Milan, Italy.

She did enrol at the University of Ljubljana and attended classes for a year, but never graduated.

According to CBS News, the official public records of the university do not list Melania as having graduated from there with a degree.

According to GQ, she dropped out after a year when she packed it in to focus on her modelling career.

However, this is not the only thing about Melania that grabbed headlines after the RNC in 2016.

Her speech at the convention in Cleveland, Ohio, was questioned over its similarities to a speech by Michelle Obama.

Some listeners claimed she must have copied the then-First Lady.

Certain parts of the speech – about the necessity of hard work and strong family values – matched Michelle 2008 address nearly verbatim.

Michelle told a gathering of adoring Democrats in 2008: “Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values, that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do.

“And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation.

“Because we want our children – and all the children in the nations – to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.”

Melania told the GOP delegates eight years later: “From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise.

“That you treat people with respect. They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily life.

“That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son, and we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow, because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.”

Donald Trump and Melania met in 1998 and tied the knot in 2005.

Melania became a US citizen in 2006 and their son Barron was born that same year.

Their son Barron was born a year later.

She was supportive of her husband during the 2016 presidential campaign, defending him through a slew of scandals.

After he won the election, she became the First Lady on January 20, 2017.

For a time, Melania continued living at Trump Tower in Manhattan instead of moving to the White House so that her son Barron could finish his school year at Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School.

They then moved to join Mr Trump in Washington DC.
