Homes Under The Hammer host Martin Roberts in Johnny Vegas bombshell as he lands 'scoop'

Martin Roberts, 56, took to the micro-blogging site and shared a photo of himself alongside the comedian Johnny Vegas, 49, at the TV Choice Awards 2019, which took place on Monday night. The BBC presenter hinted viewers may be in for a big surprise as he teased the duo may team up for a Homes Under The Hammer “spoof” for Comic Relief. In view of his 22,700 followers, Martin captioned the post: “Fab to meet @JohnnyVegasReal and here’s a scoop…he’s a huge fan of the show and I hope we may do a Hammer spoof for @comicrelief which would be AWESOME.”(sic) Comic Relief were the first to champion the idea, as they replied: “We’re listening.”

Fans echoed a similar sentiment, as one person gushed: “Great picture Martin and the comic relief idea is fabulous. You could have Dion talking about the stairs and bedrooms with Johnny sleeping in one of them.”

Another person offered: “How about someone who buys a house at auction and makes it look worse than it was after they have done it up.”

While a third person added: “Please get your heads together and do it.”

Comic Relief is a UK charity founded in 1985 by comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry.

The charity show was broadcast in March this year and sees British comedians get the public to laugh, while raising money for people in need.

Elsewhere, Johnny – whose real name is Michael Pennington – has opened up about “overhauling his lifestyle” as he displayed his slender frame during the ceremony at the London Hilton hotel on Park Lane.

The British comic looked dapper in a suit as he showcased his slimmed down physique.

The Still Open Hours actor spoke candidly about his weight loss back in 2018 where he admitted he doesn’t want to “make other people feel bad”, according to The Sun.

Johnny, who previously weighed 18 stone, told the publication: “I am very careful about coming on and celebrating weight loss because it makes other people feel bad.

“I have not done a diet in anyway whatsoever. I have cut out things, it’s a lifestyle change – and not a drastic diet.

“Then you can live with it and you don’t feel like you are denying yourself anything – apart from cheese!”

Meanwhile, Martin shared his unhappiness for not getting a “single mention” during the TV Choice Awards 2019.

In a video posted to both Twitter and Instagram, he fumed: “So here’s the thing.

“I’m at this glitzy, glamorous, TV awards ceremony, it’s the TV Choice Awards with lots of really famous people.

“Very exciting! But, you know what, once again, another year goes by and another awards ceremony goes by and Homes Under The Hammer doesn’t get a single mention.”

Martin continued: “I’m not bitter, all these award winners deserve it but one of these years perhaps before I pop my clogs it would be nice – perhaps – to get an award.

“Can you help?”

Homes Under The Hammer airs weekdays at 10.30am.
