Strictly Come Dancing 2019: James Cracknell scolded by Tess Daly after David James reveal

Strictly Come Dancing fans were thrilled to have their favourite show back on screen this evening.

The BBC hit returned as the celebrities were paired up with their professional dancers.

As former rowing star James Cracknell stepped up to find out who his partner would be, he tried to catch out Tess Daly with his own style of dancing.

While insisting “dad dancing” was a thing, presenter Tess jokingly hit back saying it “is not a proper dance”.

Tess joked: “I’ve got some bad news… I’m afraid dad dancing is not a proper dance.”

James hit back: “It will be included at some stage!”

He went on to say he was performing “for the dads out there”.

Just after, James was paired with Luba Mushtuk who is getting a partner for the first time in her Strictly Come Dancing career.

Fans were loving the former rower tonight and many flocked to share their thoughts on the pairing.

One wrote: “James Cracknell, one to watch?”

A second shared: “Ok James Cracknell is going to be great.”

A third commented: “I’m calling @jamescracknell and @LubaMushtuk Team Juba!”

Just after him, Tess and former footballer David James explained the reasoning behind his secret code name.

Before each celebrity is announced to be taking part in the official line-up, they get given a nickname to keep them hidden.

David’s was actually “The Incredible Hulk”, owing to his height and strength.

As the former England goalkeeper strolled over to her, Tess exclaimed: “How tall are you?

“I can see now why your Strictly code name was The Incredible Hulk…”

David then got paired with Nadiya Bychkova and it seemed Tess was keen to continue with the joke.

She laughed: “The Incredibly Hulk and Wonder Woman!”

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One in two weeks to start the competition.
