Jamie Laing admits watching Strictly Come Dancing 2019 is 'upsetting' after quitting show

Jamie Laing, 30, opened up about his mixed emotions before tuning into the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 launch show. The former contestant announced he was unable to compete in the series this year after suffering a painful foot injury. The Made In Chelsea favourite posted a video teasing the moment the celebrities get paired up with their professional dancers in view of his 886,000 Instagram followers this evening. Getting candid about his feelings ahead of the first episode of the BBC programme, he wrote in the caption: “I’m so excited that @bbcstrictly is starting tonight!!”

In spite of his excitement over the TV event, Jamie admitted he was “upset” his Strictly journey was brought to an untimely end.

He added: “It’s so upsetting my journey ended so quickly but it doesn’t mean I won’t be supporting everyone each week!! 

“Can’t wait to watch!!! X.”

Fans took to the comments section of Jamie’s post to share their commiserations to the reality star over his exit from the show.

One person wrote: “So sad for you Jamie. We were really looking forward to watching you. Hope you get the chance to take part next year.”

Another added: “There’s always next year Jamie I’m so gutted was so looking forward to seeing you bust some moves xx.”

“Jamie I’m so sad for you, I had a bet that you were the winner x,” a third fan commented.

Jamie also shared Instagram story clips of Strictly playing on his TV as he sat down to watch from home.

The former Strictly star threw his support behind Karim Zeroual, as he filmed the CBBC presenter showing off his best moves on the show.

Jamie is part of the pre-recorded launch episode, but will not continue in the competition.

He was recently seen on crutches and with a protective boot around his foot, which he injured while recording the launch show.

The TV personality addressed his decision to quit the show in an Instagram video post last week.

He said: “I’m absolutely devastated that I’m unable to continue in the competition, 

“I was so excited to hit the dance floor.”

“I would like to wish the lovely couples all the very best and hope they enjoy their time on the show to the fullest,” he added.

Strictly’s executive producer said: “We are so sad that Jamie won’t be able to take part in the series, he had already lit up the ballroom during the launch show with his boundless energy and enthusiasm. 

“We all wish him a full and speedy recovery.”
