Zoe Ball: ‘Absolutely gutted’ BBC Radio 2 host speaks out on Strictly 2019 decision

Zoe Ball, 48, will be reprising her presenting role on Strictly Come Dancing spin-off, It Takes Two, in a few weeks time.

But one celebrity contestant who won’t be appearing on the BBC Two programme is Jamie Laing who has been forced to quit the series due to an injury.

Jamie made the announcement today, after he suffered an injury during a group performance whilst filming the launch show last Friday.

Zoe posted the statement about the Made In Chelsea’s departure to her Instagram page.

“Absolutely gutted for Jamie,” she said.

Teasing his return on next year’s series, Zoe continued: “Was so excited for his @bbcstrictly adventure…. next year smasher.

“Sending love & the speediest recovery.”

Zoe’s fans left message revealing how disappointed they are that Jamie can no longer perform.

One person wrote: “He was the person I was most looking forward to seeing sending best wishes he must be gutted.”

Another said: “Oh no I was so looking forward to seeing Jamie.”

While Denise van Outen commented: “Gutted! Such a shame.”

Jamie uploaded a video to his Instagram account where he said he was “devastated” he had to leave.

He filmed himself saying: “Because of my injury, I won’t be competing in Strictly this year which is incredibly devastating and really upsetting.”

Remaining upbeat, he went on: “These things happen in life and when these things happen, you just have to push on and be positive and move forward.

“I wish the best of luck to all of the other guys who are in Strictly this year they are the best bunch of people ever, the show is gonna be amazing, 2019 is gonna be incredible.”

Meanwhile, Zoe will be sharing her presenting duties on It Takes Two for the first time with Rylan Clark-Neal.

However, on her radio show, Zoe revealed she hasn’t been in “the same building at the same time” as the host since the news was broken.

She said: “I still haven’t seen him yet. We’re going to be doing It Takes Two together.”

Although the TV and radio personality gushed about how “excited” she was to work with Rylan on the Strictly spin-off show, she explained she hasn’t caught up with him yet ahead of the dance competition’s launch.

“Rylan we love you. Very excited about our show starting in a couple of weeks time,” Zoe added.

Strictly Come Dancing begins tomorrow on BBC One at 7.10pm.
