The three stars Unai Emery must tell Arsenal transfer chiefs to scout during international

Ten Arsenal first-team players jetted off around the globe for this season’s first flurry of international fixtures, making London Colney a quieter place than usual.

While Emery will be working with those who did not make the cut for their country, the respite of Premier League action gives a chance for club scouts to watch targets on an international level.

Even though Arsenal laid out almost £150million this summer, a large amount of which will be paid in instalments, the need to improve the squad remains.

So, as the international break kicks in, which players should be under the Arsenal microscope? Express Sport looks through the lens…

Ryan Fraser – Scotland

The Bournemouth winger’s contract expires in the summer and he is reportedly no closer to signing an extension.

Seven goals and 14 assists last season announced him as one of the most threatening wide players in the league.

Emery has signed Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe, who can both operate on the wings, but the bustling Fraser would add another strong option.

The 25-year-old was flattered by Arsenal interest last season and would relish a move to a top-six club.

Thomas Meunier – Belgium

Arsenal were interested in signing the Paris Saint-Germain right-back over the summer but the player wanted to stay in the French capital.

The defender is in the last year of his contract and has not been offered an extension, although he said he is more likely to leave once it has expired than make a January switch.

Emery is currently deploying Ainsley Maitland-Niles, a conventional central midfielder, at right-back in Hector Bellerin’s absence, and Meunier would be an ample back-up to the Spaniard.

Belgium fixtures: San Marino (A), Scotland (A)

Caglar Soyuncu – Turkey

The Leicester centre-back has wowed Foxes fans this season with his confidence on the ball and seamless transition into regular first-team football following Harry Maguire’s departure to Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has made 24 appearances for his national side and is seen as a leader by many at club and international level.

Emery signed David Luiz on deadline day to remedy Arsenal’s defensive woes but the Gunners looked shaky in recent games against Liverpool and Tottenham, leading many to suggest they still strong options at centre-half.

The longer Soyuncu goes about his business for Leicester, the quicker his transfer value will spike – getting a look of him during this Premier League lay-off may give the Gunners reason to pounce soon.

Turkey fixtures: Andorra (H), Moldova (A)
