P20 Pro owners should download this latest Huawei update right now

P20 Pro launched last year and Huawei has continued to support the device with consistent upgrades.

The handset initially launched running Android 8.1 Oreo but was later updated to Android 9 Pie with Huawei’s own EMUI 9.0 skin on top.

More recently, Huawei expressed confidence the P20 Pro would also be granted its new EMUI 10 software based on Google’s Android 10.

The Chinese tech giant unveiled EMUI 10 at its scheduled Developer Conference last month – it boasts a new aesthetic and a score of fresh features for fans to get excited about.

Moreover, EMUI 10 also benefits from a number of Google’s own Android 10 features such as added permissions, an improved dark mode and new gestures.

Express.co.uk has already been hands-on with EMUI 10 – you can read our impressions here.

It is currently unclear when the P20 Pro will be granted this software update.

Ahead of its debut though, Huawei has finally released the Android August 2019 security patch for the 2018 mobile.

The new firmware introduces remedies for a number of operating system vulnerabilities that are considered by Google to be “critical” and “high” in severity.

The most notable was said to allow a “remote attacker” to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process – potentially harming the device in question.

It is worth noting Google has emphasised it has not received any reports of such vulnerabilities being exploited.

However, it is still advised P20 Pro owners download the vital update as soon as possible.

If your device has not already issued a prompt alerting you to the August patch, you can download it manually.

Head to Settings > System > Software update to obtain it.
