Mrs Obama made the comments in an interview with Gayle King. The couple first spoke on the phone ahead of Mr Obama’s first day at a law firm they worked at. Colleagues were said to be excited about him but Mrs Obama says she thought he was a “nerd”.
That changed when she spoke with him on the phone: “That voice didn’t go with the picture of the little nerd I had in my head.”
Mr Obama was late for his first day at work.
Mrs Obama explains: “Then he was late and I was like, ‘trifling black man coming late on the first day.”
She said he did not seem “pressed” that he was running late.
The younger Miss Obama was the youngest child to live at the White House since John F. Kennedy Jr.
Mr Kennedy was born on November 25, 1960.
His father was elected POTUS just two weeks earlier and his term began on January 20, 1961.
The Obamas were the American first family from 2009 until 2017.
Marian Robinson, Mrs Obama’s mother lived in the White House with them.
The Trumps are the current first family.
Melania and Barron Trump live with Donald Trump at the White House.
The younger Mr Trump lived in Trump Tower with Mrs Trump for the first five months of Trump’s presidency to allow him to finish the school year.
Trump has three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric with his first wife Ivana Trump.
He has a second daughter, Tiffany Trump with his second wife, Marla Maples.
