Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla have been at the forefront of the Indian fashion scene for 33 years.

As well as creating the wedding dresses for Deepika, Sonam Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, they have also designed for international stars from Beyonce to Judy Dench.

Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla designed the extraordinary lavish outfit worn by Beyonce in the iconic Coldplay video for Hymn For The Weekend.

Deepika herself started out as a high fashion model before making the switch to Bollywood.

Her first acting teacher Anupam Kher even revealed how he had tried to break her “perfection’ and poise to make her a better actress.

He said: “One day, to break her composure of being a perfectionist, I gave her an exercise in improvisation…That went on for 45 minutes… till I felt she had discovered (new things). I think she started crying!”

Deepika gladly dropped her poise for the celebratory moment at the end of the fashion show as The Disco Song (a remix of Disco Deewane) from the movie Student of The Year pumped out over the speakers.

As is traditional at may catwalk shows, a bridal outfit provides the climax of the entire collection.

Deepika’s lavish outfit included a plunging neckline complete with elaborate and bejewelled embroidery which also created the illusion of a spectacular necklace.

She removed the lavish veil and train for the ovation at the end, where she beamed with joy, flanked by the two designers for the impromptu dance.
