Priyanka Chopra is well-known for a variety of roles in Bollywood and more recently for marrying band superstar Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers’ fame.
And now the star has signed up to another Netflix film, adapted from the original book by Indian author Arvin Adiga.
The news was announced yesterday and the Bollywood actress will be joining Rajkummar Rao in the new film.
In her initial statement, Priyanka has revealed the real reason she was interested in taking part in the new project.
She began: “I’m so excited to work with Ramin Bahrani and Netflix to bring Aravind Adiga’s poignant story to cinematic life.
“When I read the book, I was fascinated with the perspective of the narrative.
“The story’s portrayal of raw ambition,” the star continued. “And the extent one will go to achieve one’s goals is riveting.
“I look forward to filming this in India this fall.”
The actress went on to say she was most excited to work with the cast of the new film, and fellow Bollywood actor Rajkummar.
“Also working along with Rajkummar Rao for the first time and the wonderful cast Ramin is putting together,” she added.

The original novel’s framework began with a letter, and is a story filled with murder and intrigue and a rise from rags to riches.
The synopsis read: “The White Tiger is framed as a narrative letter written over seven nights to the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao; it is a tale of servitude, economic prosperity, and murder.
“The novel employs a first-person narrator, Balram Halwai, whose unique, sarcastic voice carries the reader through his life in ‘new India.’”
The new movie is directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Ramin Bahrani, best known for movies such as 99 Homes and Man Push Cart.
The cast also includes actor Adarsh Gourav, who is known for MOM, My Name Is Khan, Madly and Rukh.
Speaking about his decision to take on the new film, actor Rajkummar said: “It’s an exciting time for actors today and I’m thrilled to be a part of such a world-class project.
“I’ve been an admirer of Ramin’s work and am excited to see The White Tiger come to life with Netflix.”
Ramin added: ”I have wanted to make a film of Aravind Adiga’s brilliant novel The White Tiger for over a decade.
“I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with Mukul Deora, Netflix and such an incredible cast on this project.”
The White Tiger will be available to watch on Netflix.
