WATCH: Plane passenger repulsed by man’s unpleasant move with airline blanket

A plane passenger was shocked when he saw what a flier on the row across from him was up to. The incident occurred on a Qatar Airways flight from Qatar to Washington DC, USA. A video shared on Twitter captured the gross moment the man was seen using his airline blanket for something nasty. The clip shows the male passenger sneezing into the material and then wiping his nose on it.

The video first captures the man sitting in a middle seat with no one either side of him.

The blanket lies across his lap as he looks at an electronic device in his hands.

He then proceeds to gather up the blanket and sneezes directly into it.

The passenger goes on to firmly wipe his nose on the material before putting it back on his lap.

The Twitter user who uploaded the clip dubbed the man’s actions as “dirty” and “filthy.”

However, it’s arguable the male passenger was keen to prevent the spread of germs and was being considerate in muffling them with his blanket.

What’s more, airlines will most often send blankets off to be washed at an industrial facility.

However, passengers should check that plane blankets are wrapped when they sit down as sometimes crew simply fold up blankets after use.

Travellers keen to avoid dirtiness on their flight should also consider steering clear of window seats.

A plane passenger travelling with Air Canada has revealed the difference in hygiene on board.

A viral video of the traveller shows her cleaning the headrests of an aisle seat, middle seat and a window seat using an alcohol-based sanitation wipe.

She cleans the headrests of all three seats but it’s the plane window seat that is the dirtiest. The wipe for that seat’s headrest is far blacker than either of the other two.

The middle seat was the second dirtiest and the aisle plane seat the least filthy.

It is suggested in the footage that the aisle seat is easier to clean which is why the window seat has been neglected.

A flight attendant posting on Reddit has also said passengers should never use or put anything in the seat pockets.

“I ALWAYS recommend you never, ever, ever, EVER use or put anything in the seat pocket,” they said. “They are cleared of rubbish but are never ‘cleaned’.

“I have pulled out and seen all sorts been pulled out from there. Dirty tissues, sick bags, knickers, socks, peoples feet, gum, half sucked sweets, apple cores… and then next flight you go and put your phone/laptop/iPad in there.”

On the same thread, another flight attendant explained that people often behave foully with tray tables too.

They posted: ”People frequently do disgusting things on their tray tables (I’ve seen people change diapers, clip toenails and wipe boogers to name a few), though these discoveries pale in comparison to human faeces under a seat.”
